History

In 2009, a group of young people began to work for a dream…overcoming the situation of poverty and hunger that millions of Mexicans faces every day.

Guided by the belief that all men were born free and equal (Jefferson, T., 1976), it was in 2009 that the dream of addressing social inequality arose, recognizing that the primary needs of diverse populations must be led to create ways out of poverty and hunger in Mexico.

This later headed to the foundation and constitution in 2012 in Mexico, under the name of Amox Tochan (coming from the Nahuatl language which means; Amox-book, Tochan-house), as a non-profit organization.

Since then, we aim at building skills that will open life opportunities to children, youth and adult men and women, as well as taking care of health and nutrition issues. Amox Tochan has made it possible for hundreds of people in poverty to receive food, access to health care and basic education, particular focus in the State of Mexico. increase community engagement and action in order to drive a sustainable social impact and inclusive growth.

After 10 years and many partnerships with both, public and private organizations, we have evolved to a more open, innovative organization to better serve our communities. We work closely aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG); 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,12,13,15 and have updated our work plans accordingly.
